I am a Costume Designer & Wardrobe Stylist in the South African film industry. I have worked successfully within the local and international markets for commercials, tv series, feature films, stills, print media, online content.
I studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town South Africa and graduated with my Fashion Design diploma. While studying I worked as a junior Fashion Designer for a design studio, who designed and manufactured for a large South African clothing retail store, Woolworths.
After completing my studies, I travelled abroad for two years. During this time, I worked in London for various fashion houses at their studios, head offices and stores. I then returned home and started working in the Cape Town film industry.
I was the Assistant Costume Designer & Costume Supervisor on the feature film, Tsotsi, which then went on and won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
In 2007, I took on my first Costume Design role for a period drama series, which earned me a SAFTA Award nomination for Best Costume Designer.
In 2015 I took a step back from major films and commercials to raise my son. I focused on smaller media jobs and/or positions within the costume department. I designed and manufactured my own baby sleepwear and knitwear range. I also guest lectured at AFDA, The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance.
During my design and styling work, I have had the privilege to work with numerous high-profile people and celebrities from Elle Macpherson, Richard Gere, Hilary Swank, Lewis Hamilton, Scott Eastwood, Luc Besson, Trevor Noah and many more.
I have many years of experience in my vocation, which gives me an invaluable broad knowledge base. This makes my work versatile and fluid, in that I can switch quite effortlessly between design or style, long or short form, source or sew, costume or fashion.
